I stayed at the Comfort Inn on 5/28. I woke up to shower and moved the sheet back to retrieve my glasses that I had previously left in the bed and noticed a brown spot. I put my glasses on and looked closer and saw a bug in the bed slowly crawling. I looked on the internet for a picture of a bedbug and the bug looked exactly like the pic so I took a picture of it and a video of it moving in the bed. I called the front desk and informed them that I had a bed bug in my bed and could they send someone up. The front desk clerk said she would call the manager. My boyfriend went downstairs and the clerk offered him a 50% discount then later after she talked to the manager said it is nothing she could do because they had no one to inspect the room. He asked for a corporate number and she gave him the hotel number and said we couldn't contact the manager directly. I found the corporate hotline online and called. The representative was very empathetic and apologized but said it was up to the hotel to give us a refund since that hotel was individually owned. The manager refused to give us a refund because he said we called at 9 am the next day as if we were lying and would need to inspect the room before any other steps. We found the bug the next day and no one even tried to come to the room to see. The corporate representative apologized and offered a $40 refund but I refused. I filed a complaint and called the health department.
