Bedbug Reviews

Stayed at the hotel only 1 night 11/18/17 - 11/19/17. Due to baby being in a cast, mom & baby slept on the floor on a infant pad that was brought into the room via the housekeeping staff, along with some bedding. At 6 am in the morning, I was sitting with my granddaughter, I saw a small apple seed sized bug crawling across the pillow. I preceded to catch the bug in a bag and pick my granddaughter up off of the floor. We immediately went to the registration desk & talked to the hotel manager. Who didn't come in until 9 am,. we were told he would call us as soon as he arrived. When he came in didn't contact us to find out what was going on. We had to go back down to see him with the bug in hand. We showed it to him and he wrote down the complaint and said they would do what was needed to help us. With the baby being in a body cast, we were very concerned that she would need a cast change. Which, is a very expensive surgical procedure due to the type of cast and her age. He seemed concerned with that only. He stated that he would call in a company to verify what kind of a bug this was and would let us know the findings. They gave us bags to pack our things up. They didn't offer any support to help us at all. We spent the morning trying to pack things so as not to bring anything home. We had to go home and wash all of our belongings, leave them out to freeze or put items in the freezer. There were 4 families involved in this fiasco. Several coats, shoes, some clothing & stuffed animals were lost due to trying to clean our items. The adult and the baby that was on the floor experienced bites that showed up on their bodies approximately 2 wks later. One of the persons involved has a health condition, due to the work that was done, her face swelled up and was extremely painful due to the work & stress involved. I called several times the next day to get the results of the room inspection. Finally the manager & I connected & YES, it was bed bugs. He stated that the company said it was a minimally infected room. No skin shedding was found and they didn't see evidence of larvae. They offered nothing to us to compensate us for our troubles and miserable end of what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend. We have yet to see the room report and the hotel is not willing to work with us. They referred us to their corporate office to handle this. We were told an insurance company would contact us, that has yet to happen. We were told that a report would be filed with their corporate office. When I called the corporate office they had no report filed from the Wyndham Grand Chicago Riverfront. Was told that the hotel has 7 -10 days to respond to this complaint. We are waiting to hear from the corporate office at this time.
