My mother and I booked a room September 29 – Oct 3rd, 2016. The first room was on the first floor. Immediately we noticed it was dated, upholstery was torn, and it smelled musky. We also noticed there were faint brown spots on the sheets. The next morning when we went to take a shower, our tub was missing the switch to turn the shower on. We reported it to the front desk and they gave us a new room on the second floor. The room smelled a little better, but same conditions. About 3am my mom woke up and yelled that something was crawling on her hand, then sheet. We flipped on the light to see both our beds were crawling with bugs. My mom took one and pinched it in a napkin, and it squished blood. We knew then they were bed bugs, and that was why the laundered sheets had faint brown spots in the other room. We had bites on our bodies where they had been sucking our blood. I have never seen or dealt with bud bugs until now. This hotel obviously had them in multiple rooms. We immediately showered to make sure none were on us. Then packed up our clothes. We complained to the front desk. The attendant offered to get us another room, but he would have to clean it first. We wanted out of there and our money refunded. He said he was not authorized to do that, but would have the manager call us once she was in for her shift. We took our clothes to a laundromat and washed them. We also bought eco bed bug spray at Home Depot and sprayed the inside of our bags. We were scared of staying at any of the hotels in Lafayette, so we opted for a pricier hotel in Crawfordsville IN, which was nice…and had no bugs. The manager did call and told us she would refund our money. She was apologetic, but we also got the sense that they knew of the bed bug problem. Do not stay in this hotel!
