I have stayed at the Beacon many, many times before and this is certainly a first. I checked in Tuesday night, September 7, 2015. I had an extremely hectic schedule while attending a conference at the Marriott Marquis. While I slept comfortably, I did not realize that I was being attacked by bugs in my sleep. The next two days, I experienced some itching and noticed bites, but thought they were from mosquitoes so I paid them little attention. By the 4th day, I showed the growing clusters of bites to a colleague who is a doctor and she advised me that they appeared to be bedbug bites - red, inflamed around the edges with a darker core in the middle of the bumps. My elbows, knees, upper back, legs, arms and ankles were sprinkled with bedbug bites. On Saturday, upon my return from the conference, I called down to the front desk to report that I believed that there were bedbugs in my room. The front desk person responded by saying that he would have someone come up and inspect the bed right away. It was late, I stayed up for about an hour and unintentionally fell asleep. To my knowledge, no one ever came to inspect the bed (I slept on the couch). The following morning, I spoke with the Assistant General Manager who promised to have someone inspect the bed/room and that he will also have the outside inspector come in on the following day, Monday to have it looked at. I was checking out that day, so he promised to call me and let me know what they learned and what they would do. He said he would call me on Tuesday. I have not heard from them yet, even after calling and leaving two messages with him.
