Bedbug Reviews

My wife, daughter, and I stayed from Monday, August 28, 2017 until checkout Wednesday, August 30th. As we discovered when we were leaving, we had multiple bites on all of us. As soon as we arrived home (Michigan) I called the hotel and asked to talk to someone about the bites and bedbugs. I was told to speak with the "General Manager" who was out but, if I left a voice mail, he would return the call in an hour. That was Thursday. I waited all day and received no return call. I called the hotel again on Friday and was given the same story and extension. Never did anyone answer the phone or return our phone call. We were agast at such a business attitude. All told we have over 15 bites and they are large, red, painful, and itchy. So much for the reputation of the Radisson. Our next call is to the public health department.

We arrived on Monday, August 28th and checked in to room 145 and we checked out Wednesday, August 30th. After the first night, my daughter complained of having some bug bites but the bites were not large or very swolen. After the second night all three of us had bites places that could not have been from any outside insects (ants, spiders) because there were several bites on feet and other well protected places. When we got home, I tried to call the hotel and they transfered me to extensions where no answered nor did they ever return my phone calls. I reported on Trip Advisor and their only response was "We are sorry for your inconvience" but to return phone calls, no personal apologies, no strategies about prevention, no compensation. They should be sued for not cleaning up their act nor apologizing in person. Never to to this motel!

This occurred on February 11th 2018. The first night we stayed in room 147. It was OK. For whatever reason the internet didn't work and neither did the remote. The maintenance man dropped off another which did not work much better. Overall the first night wasn't bad and we liked the look of our room so we booked a second night. The next morning we were told our room was out of order and that we would have to move. No idea what the supposed problem was. Hauled our stuff into room 145 next door. Left for the day and came back around dinner time. Took a shower and watched a little TV. Went to get some sleep around 11:30 and saw a bedbug crawl across the pillow. We searched the rest of the room and two more turned up. I captured them in a glass with a coaster on top. Switched rooms again. Room 409 was like a sauna when we walked in. The heat was running constantly and the thermostat on the wall was not working correctly. Had to manually turn off the heat and run the AC for more than an hour just to get the temperature down to a comfortable level. The only reason we didn't request to move was because we had already been in three different rooms in our two day stay. We were up till after 3 doing laundry and hauling all our stuff out to our car to prevent a possible infestation. I took a shower, but the water was lukewarm and didn't get hot until the end of it. On top of everything else there were charges on our credit and debit cards, both for $50 supposedly as a holding fee on the room that they claim will be reimbursed (despite booking through priceline) I will have to check again here soon to make sure the charges were indeed removed as well as make sure we were not charged for the second night of our stay, which was a disaster. To make things worse my husband and I found several reviews on the internet stating the Radisson in Rochester by the airport had bed bugs, even specifying the very same room we were in, room 145. There were dogs barking on and off during our time in the lower rooms as well. The whole situation was disgusting and unacceptable. We chose to stay in a hotel that is supposed to represent quality, and hold a good reputation. You don't expect to be surrounded in squalor. I will never chose to stay in a Radisson again and quite frankly I think the franchise owner should be ashamed of the accommodations that they offer. They should be investigated by the health department. We were offered a complimentary breakfast ticket by way of an apology, but we chose to leave instead as I didn't feel comfortable eating in a place that had an active bed bug infestation. Will not recommend to anyone, except to tell them to avoid this hotel like the plague.
