May 14, 2015 I am visiting Washington from the UK and as bed bugs are not a major issue there I didn't know how bed bug bites look like and at first I thought it was some allergic reaction. I had to go to a doctor for help and advice! I can't believe that afetr the first incident reported above (less than a month ago)of bed bugs in that room, the manager did not take any action! It's outrageous!

I traveled to Virginia from NY on 04/09/2018 to purchase a car. I had initially planned to drive back to NY the same day, but decided to book a room locally online to spend the night. I booked at The Days Inn in Arlington. I arrived around 6:30pm and checked in. A friend then picked me up and we went out to dinner. I arrived back at the hotel and got into bed, tired after a long day of travel. I fell asleep with the TV on and woke up around midnight itching my leg. I felt something and though it may have been a spider. I turned the lights on and was disgusted and horrified to see multiple bed bugs in the sheets. I lifted the mattress and saw more, as well as more under the pillows. I immediately jumped out of bed and called the front desk. The did not seem surprised at all and offered to switch my room. I demanded a refund and wanted to leave immediately. I packed up my things and they tried to get me to stay. Saying that it wasn't their fault and it wasn't because they were dirty. I just wanted to leave. They said they refunded my card, though they would not give me a receipt and I haven't confirmed if it has been refunded or not. I called the health dept. but it was after hours and will call again tomorrow to make them aware. I stayed in room 208. I have photos and a video of the bugs crawling on the bed.

Checked into the Days Inn by Wyndham Arlington Pentagon hotel on Wed, May 01, 2019. I was in the office on Fri, May 03, 2019 informing the front desk clerk I had been bitten by bed bugs. I showed her the bite marks on both arms. She stated that they exterminate weekly and do not put patrons into rooms that have an infestation. The gave me two options: check out and find another hotel or she could move me to another room. I chose to be moved to another room because we tried to book another hotel, and we were told that they could not accommodate our length of stay. The areas where I was bitten had become inflamed with swelling on my right arm, in addition to I began to find bumps on my neck and lower extremities. The over the counter prescriptions were not working, so I had to be seen in the emergency room at Virginia Hospital Center where I incurred a co-payment and 30% out of pocket cost because I'm out of network. The reason for the swelling and other areas on my body becoming inflamed was because I developed an allergic reaction to the bed bug venom. I cannot begin to tell you how miserable I feel with the itching and swelling. On Wed, May 08, two other patrons were at the front desk with their pillow where they found a bed bug. The man managing the front desk displayed a cavalier attitude and dismissed the bug that he was shown. The only option he gave them was to check them out of the hotel. He did not offer another room because he said the hotel was booked to capacity. I've never encountered this type of service in my life. I have pictures of my arms, neck, and legs. We were lucky to find another hotel. Sincerely, Karen Permillion
