I had a reservation at Super 8, 311 A1A on Friday October 6th for one night. I had a camping site Friday as well, but I did plan to use the super 8 to take a shower, hide from bad weather, or if I were uncomfortable at the campsite for any reason. I checked into the hotel nice and early at 4:30pm. I washed my face, sorted my purse, sat on the bed for five minutes to go check in to my campsite, Definitely not more than 10 minutes, and thank goodness I noticed immediately the bedbugs were everywhere ! When I say everywhere, I had no idea what a bedbug infestation looked like, but now I do. I would like to send a video from Friday the sixth, broad daylight, and the bedbugs that were scurrying on the bed. However, that was just the first part of the problem. I knew to bag up all my stuff and get in the shower immediately I put the trash bags in the hallway not even caring if my stuff was stolen. Took a shower and couldn't even put on clothes before going to my car. After spending a good minute in the parking lot organizing, I had checked out of the hotel in less than an hour. But the worst: in that 5 to 10 minutes of sitting on that bed I was a bit over 100 times. I got a rash, and each bite is a blister. I had to go to the emergency room Saturday night, I'm back in New York now, returned Sunday. Today, Monday, my body is in so much pain I can't work. Saturday night Sunday night, and tonigh- someone could be staying in that room. Management did not apologize, they didn't ask to see the video tape, they didn't ask me to show them the infestation, and were incredibly rude about the situation. as soon as I got there she already had a room decided for me, as I picked up that she was unhappy that I had booked through Expedia. I tried to ask her if I could be in an upstairs room, she cut me off and said that I'm in room 200 in the corner on the top floor and that she sold out tonight so there are no choices. At 4 PM and the empty parking lot, I don't think that that all the rooms were taken already. When I came back in a panic over the bedbugs, there was no apology, and she wouldn't automatically refund my room . She told me that I had to go through Expedia and have them call me. I asked to speak to the manager, she said he's out of town. I asked her for the owners information, she told me she did not know the owner. I asked her how she could work at an establishment that she does not know the owner-it is a franchise. She said nobody knows who the owner is. She gave me the card of the manager. She also said the travelers bring bedbugs that 'they' don't have bedbugs. She knows damn well that they had bedbugs and she is sending them with the travelers to their homes. I cannot get out of my mind the fact that in five minutes I can get 100 bytes that have turned into blistery rashes.. if I had fallen asleep in that bed for even one hour my whole body would be destroyed. If I slept in that bed for a night, I would still be in the hospital in Saint Augustine. I called the health department they said it's not their jurisdiction call department of agriculture. I called them, submitted a complaint with a woman who wasn't very concerned. She even told me it could be over a week before someone reads my complaint. This is unacceptable. There's an infestation in that hotel and travelers are staying there every night spreading that to other hotels and to their homes. In the first five minutes of finding those bugs, I completely flipped out and called 911. The fact that I can be in such a state of emergency and no one, absolutely no department in the city of Saint Augustine seems to take this seriously. Even the doctor at the hospital seemed to think this was just part of life. It's not. I had a wedding on Saturday that I graciously Gritted through, and went straight to the emergency room after the reception. It completely ruined my weekend, completely ruined my trip, the next week I will be home sick. I certainly can't talk to anybody about it because bedbugs freaks people out and they don't want to be around you. I can't wear comfortable clothing for the weather. The last thing that's good for a rash is to have sweaty material on top of it. Going to Saint Augustine for a wedding weekend should not have turned into a complete health disaster. Room 200 at the Super 8 311 a2a beach blvd is infested. The whole hotel needs to be shut down, fumigated, twice, before it can re-open to guests. However, guests are staying in that room as I type. This is a full on infestation!
