I reported to the front desk that I encountered a bedbug in my room early AM Feb 27th, 2022. She said the manager would inspect the room, but that they never had an issue there before. Same person advised 10 minutes later that manager found no sign of bedbugs, but that they would refund the room charge (without me asking for it). I only wanted them to have the room treated for future visitors in room 204. The fact that they later billed me anyway, leads me to think that the manager did not believe me, and the room was never treated. I get it. I'm sure there are people everyday who report bugs to try for a free stay. Plus, it is very unusual to actually see a live bedbug. I have first hand knowledge & experience with bedbugs from a cruise 13 years ago and memories of the nightmare we went through getting them out of our house. Plus, the 3 red welts which appeared across my chest the next day were exactly the same as the reaction I had to bedbug bites before. Hopefully, this was not a large infestation. Of course, we were very careful not to bring anything into our house this time.
