Recommended tips after hotel check-in:
1. Pick up the mattresses in the rooms and look under it. Check around the edges of the box springs.
2. Check under the box spring.
3. Lift up each headboard an lay it on the bed. Carefully inspect the hole where the headboard was lifted out of. Also, inspect all niches and corners of the headboard.
4. If you decide to stay in the hotel, do not put any clothes in dressers. Keep them in your luggage and your dirty clothes in plastic bags.

Stayed in the room for several nights before I realized my mysterious mosquito bites were actually bed bugs. I kept checking the mattress but couldn't find anything. A friend who works for Orkin tipped me off to check the box spring and sure enough the front of it was infested with bed bugs. Management immediately gave me a new room. I moved my stuff and then thought better of it and took it all to the laundromat to wash and dry in high water and heat. Seems I may have contaminated the new room because I awoke with more bites the next morning. This would be frustrating enough but I have come to find out I am highly allergic to bed bugs and am covered in hives to boot. Over the course of the last 5 nights in different rooms I've received over 50 bites to my hands, arms, face, back, and legs.
