Bedbug Reviews

The room was beautiful, recently updated, vaulted ceilings, ocean view. Seemingly clean. We were staying one night. Thursday September 22nd, 2022, a wedding gift for my sister, a fun and relaxing getaway before her big day. We were in the room maybe an hour. Sitting on the beds watching tv. I glanced over and saw something on my sister’s forehead, took my hand and squished it on her forehead. It was a large brown bug, almost like a large fruit fly sized bug. Then, I saw a small brown bug on the white blanket on the bed. I trapped it under a glass cup and immediately knew it was a bed bug. I called down to the front desk, told them what happened. Front desk seemed confused and just said they’d put us in a different room. No offer to comp anything. Not that I’m trying to get free stuff, but there were BED BUGS in our room! THAT is unacceptable! The room they put us in was a downgrade. We then decided to just leave and drive back home. We went down to the front desk, I asked to speak to the manager, told her everything in detail start to finish. I told her I left the bed bug in the glass cup covered by a heavy piece of paper on the bar in the room, the bellboy actually placed it there. She said eco lab will come the following morning and “test” the room and see if there were bed bugs. I told her there ARE bed bugs and repeated that I left it in the covered cup on the bar in the room, 415. I asked if the hotel is prepared to pay for exterminator services at my parents’ house, my sister’s house, my house, and our vehicles? She didn’t have an answer for me. She said HER manager would be in 7am the following morning and will call me. I tried to get her to confirm that I would be reimbursed IN FULL, but she kept skirting around with her answer. At the end of this interaction, I asked if the hotel has any ammonia to spray our luggage and things l, she said no. I said then we are going to need LARGE garbage bags to bag all of our things up with so we can place them in my car. She said sure. I asked if I should wait for them at the front desk or in the room they moved us too. The front desk manager I was speaking to said they will bring them up to the room. FORTY FIVE MINUTES LATER, I had to call back down to the front desk to ask about those garbage bags they were supposed to bring up to our room. The other front desk worker, Simone, raced them up and was apologetic and nice then said, “I saw a moth on the bed, but that’s it.” I told her I left one of the THREE we saw in a glass cup on the bar in the room. She said, “oh yes, I saw that you left that there.” Confirmation that a second employee saw the bed bug left on the bar. When the manager called me at nearly one o’clock the next day, she denied there were bed bugs in our room. After I told her we left one in the covered glass cup on the bar, she said she didn’t see it. Blatantly lying to try and cover her and the hotel’s tracks instead of actually addressing the problem. I would expect much, much more from a hotel that frequently rents their rooms out at $500+ per night. Date: 9/22/2022 Time: approx. 3:40p-approx. 9:15p
