I reported bed bugs in my hotel ( Holiday Inn Express Turlock CA ) room 231 on April 10th around 3:15AM. They were crawling on the pillows and more were hidden away behind the bed. After noticing, I immediately went to the front desk and reported it. The security guy came back upstairs to the room with me to verify, which he did. We took pictures and video. I called hotels.com to get a refund. They called the woman at the front desk to verify the situation. She did, and they refunded me. I left the hotel after that, at that point probably around ? 4am?.... and I had to purchase trash bags at Safeway as I was paranoid and extremely concerned that all of my luggage was infested. I came back to the hotel and asked if I could use ( pay for ) the laundry facilities as heat is one of the main things that kills the bugs. She said I wasn't able to, now that I didn't have my key. It was very frustrating since I had no other options at 5am.... I was told that I would be notified when a 'professional' has investigated and evaluated the situation and confirmed that they are bed bugs. I had already used a bug identification app that did identify them as bed bugs. After a week plus of contacting the hotel, they never did what they said they would do.... they dodged most all questions I had, and evaded confirming that a professional had come in to verify the situation. I was on a work trip and it completely derailed my plans for work. I did not get any sleep that night and had to stay awake for over 24hours, while trying to still make something of my work day. I lost a lot of money because of this situation. I could have made over $1200 each day of work. I had to deal with cleansing everything and had to return to Oregon early to deal with this which meant losing even more money.
