Bedbug Reviews

My husband and I stayed in this hotel on May 3, 2015 with my mom and our 3 kids, ages 2,3, and 7. We arrived after midnight and were so tired. We checked into room 128 and only brought in from the van what we needed for our 1 night stay. Room 128 contains 2 beds and we were also given a roll away bed to use because we had 6 people. We got our kids to sleep and then settled in ourselves. I was laying on my stomach on my phone when I saw something small crawling across my pillow. Upon further inspection and the use of google images we realized it was a bed bug. We got out of bed, turned on the light and began to investigate. We found black fecal spots all over the yellow bed skirt as well as several alive bugs and exoskeletons that they had shed. We went to the front desk to inform the lady on duty. She told us she didn't know anything about bed bugs and didn't know what they looked like. I showed her pictures on my cell phone that I had took. She had no clue what to do so I told her she needed to call the hotel manager. She did and talked with him for a few minutes and then handed the phone to me. The manager was very rude to me. He told me I didn't know what I was talking about and that bed bugs could not be seen without a black light. I assured him that there were in fact bed bugs in our bed and that they can definitely been seen without a black light. He was not happy with my accusations and asked me what I'd like him to do. I told him that he should come to his hotel so I could show him the bed bugs. He said he'd had other occupants complain of bed bugs and after inspection with an exterminator the accusations were false therefore this was the same thing and again I did not know what I was talking about. He did tell me that he would have the room inspected. I told him that they would be refunding my money and we would be leaving this hotel. He agreed. I told him this would not be the last he heard of it. He was very unprofessional and rude to me and at no time did he or the lady at the front desk appologise for the situation. After receiving my refund I went back to my room where my mom was in the process of video taking a bed bug in the other bed that was crawling right where she had been laying. I collected a bed bug in a plastic Baggie and then took the bed skirt off the bed I had been in and took it to the front desk to show the lady. After she took it I asked her what she was going to do with it since the manager had said he'd inspect. She gave me a dirty look and said she didn't do the laundry there so she didn't know what they'd do with it. They was the last of my interaction with her or the hotel. We arrived at a comfort suites several miles down the interstate at 330am where we had a great room. My kids were miserably tired and irritable and crying. I received a phone call the next day from the manager at the holiday inn, and he "sincerely appologised" for our experience. According to him, he had had someone come look at the room and he had been wrong and there was a confirmed case of bed bugs. He told me that it was just in the one bed but we found them in both. He appologised over and over and I told him I understand that bed bugs can come into any hotel and that that wasn't my issue. My issue is how the situation was very carelessly and unprofessionally handled and how he treated me. Based on how I was treated while there, I am definitely questioning whether there was actually an inspection or if he's just trying to cover his own butt by calling and appologising because he knows I'm furious. Upon arriving back home last night, I've found 6 bites on me and 3 bites on my 3 year old. I will be reporting him and the hotel to the health department in that county and of course holiday inn express will be notified in every way possible.
