We checked into Chase on March 2014 for transitioning our business move. This was supposed to be a luxury extended stay. The 1st room had musky carpet odor in this room and we requested that the carpet be cleaned. The internet service was also bad in this room as well. At the beginning of May 2014, they finally moved us to another room for better internet service. This room also had new carpets. Within the 1st week after moving into this room, my itching issues started with 10 or more red bumps ( large and small) that would come and go in various areas on my arms, legs, face, neck and breast. I thought I had an allergic reaction to something and took benadryl. My son started the same itching about 2 weeks. We started to actual see tick-like bugs in the room around June 8, 2014 and alerted the hotel front desk (Jose) that we were seeing tick like bugs. They said they would spray but we needed to be out of the room, so we left for 2 days and had no itching while gone. When we returned to our room the itching started again a few days after. We went to the emergency clinic and were told that it looked like we contracted scabies from the hotel because of the bumps on our hands. We never had anything like this before. The doctor had my son and I treat it first to make sure. My son and I started treatments but it did not work so we knew it was something else. My husband saw another tick like bug in the room and a shell. We alerted the hotel that something was wrong in the room and we told them the doctor said we had contracted what looked like Scabies and we also suspected tick-like bugs were still in our room. We were also shocked because of the cost we were paying to have our family stay in supposedly luxury accommodations. After our call to the front desk, the hotel staff never came to investigate the room nor move us to another room nor did they make a follow up call. They even had housekeeping come by the next day. We called again 2 days later and they said someone from corporate would call. We researched and realized it was bed bugs! The hotel was not helpful because the hotels corporate office still had not called after 3 days. We also noticed and took pictures of the hotel changing out carpets in random rooms. We had contacted Brea Health department but they said they did not handle hotel issues like that so we called an attorney. On the same day ( July 1st) we went to meet with the attorney, the hotels insurance company called and left us a voicemail. The attorney took pictures of our bites and advised us to move out of the hotel immediately so we did on July 1, 2014. We did not know where to go, what to do and were terrified. We had to throw away clothes, suit cases, food and find a hotel for our family in the same day. After checking out we have not had any more bites but were left with scaring. The attorney started communications with the insurance company to seek our money back for the incident. This communication was drawn out by the insurance company and attorney for close to 14 months. After which, the insurance company called us a nuisance case in September 2015. To date, the Hotel will not provide any resolution nor have they provided any documentation showing that they did an inspection for bed bugs in 2014 because of our complaint.
