Stayed at Moab Super 8 10/10, 10/11 & 10/12, 2010, in "King Suite" Room 221. Got 100's of bites from my toes to my shoulders. My trip to Moab was totally ruined by the excruciating pain and itching manifested over the next few days.

My story has a somewhat happy ending. Last Labor Day Weekend 2010 I stayed at the Apache Motel with a friend. The first night in the Family Suite I was injuried in a major bed bug attack. The second night we were moved to the John Wayne Suite, but my friend was bitten again in the John Wayne bedroom/king-size bed. I decided after my attack the first night that left my back bloodied and looking like raw meat to sleep in the living room. Unfortunately, dispute my best efforts, I ended up with Apache Motel bed bugs in my home. Why a happy ending? I advise anyone staying at a motel that experiences bed bugs to document everything - take photographs, get medical treatment, talk with management and record everything they say, and most critical contact the local Health Department. Eight months later I never even got an apology from the motel, nor asked if I was okay or how badly I was bitten. My justification came in the local Small Claims Court. Document everything, and follow-up. Bed bugs are a nightmare that never ends. I got some justice.

Apache Motel, Moab Utah - Stayed there for years. Recently stayed there and on the first night I was attacked. Staff was unconcerned and only said they found just 10 live bugs when they cleaned the room. Bugs ended up in my luggage and in my car. End result over 400 bed bug bites from the Apache Motel in Moab Utah. Called Health Department. I lost work time, now medical expenses. There was a total lack of concern on the part of the Apache Motel staff and the desk clerk and made hints that I probably already had bed bugs in my home. Apparently not wanting to claim responsibility. I am angry and now being extremely vocal with my friends and business associates who have stayed here. I am currently on business in Moab and staying in a wonderful bed bug free place and now I ask at the front desk.

I have stayed in this hotel for several years, and this was the first time I have been bitten by bed bugs. I stayed two nights, 11/5/10 and 11/6/10. Woke up on 11/6/10 with a few big itchy welts on my legs. Woke up 11/7/10 with over 30 big itchy red welts, primarily on my face, arms, hands and neck. I like to sleep on my side with the hands tucked under the pillow, so I am confident the bugs were coming from the headboard area. My friend stayed in the other bed and does not have any welts. She may be one of those people who does not react to the bites. I definitely do react. I called the hotel and alerted them, told the room and which bed I was in. They said they would take care of it, though they did not seem overly concerned. I really hope they do take care of it. Until this year, I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel.

Stayed at Moab Super 8 10/22 & 23/2010, rm 221. By Monday PM discovered I had sustained over 100 bed bug bites on my face, neck, back, buttocks, sides, arms, legs & feet. Confirmed as bed bug bits by a physician. An utterly miserable experience, not much of a response from the management when informed of the situation. Stay away!

On the recent Memorial Day weekend, I went Moab, Utah. Nice place! Fun! Had wonderful hotel experiences in the past! Saturday I woke up and put my hand to my back that was itching. Splattttt! I turned on the light and it was covered with blood and dead bugs. Bed Bugs. My friends were also bitten. I had never experienced it before in my life. The motel moved us from the $90 a night room to the famous $120 room saying they had no problem with bed bugs all summer. They seemed as bewildered as us. Bed Bugs again in the $120 a night suite. I could have handled the over two dozens bites on me, unfortunately as careful as I was in cleaning everything, bed bugs had hidden in my CD Walkman and the headphones. I found eggs and a dead body. Now I have bed bugs in my rental apartment and being threatened with eviction, my supervisor had work has informed me that I am not to come into the office until the bugs are gone so I don't bring bugs to the offices. Co-workers are scared, and my family has banned me from visiting them. All these problems, stress, and added expenses because I wanted a good time in Moab, Utah. Went on internet and found dozens of stories by people on Moab hotels and motels. Be careful, very careful because the cleanest nicest place can harbor these creatures. I am in pain and miserable from the bites. I am violently allergic to presticides, my office has shunned me, and I am facing possible eviction. I wish I had been warned before hand. The motel manager could only say that bed bugs don't travel in luggage, clothes or from room to room. I think she didn't get a very good biology lessons, since this is the most common way they travel. I hope to go back to Moab, and I loved that particular motel and the staff, but I am in terror now of these horrible little blood sucking creatures that ruined my holiday weekend.
