I checked in on 4/4/12 around 10:30pm. I checked the mattress/box springs and because they were navy/floral print, it was really hard to discern any traces of bed bugs. It didn't seem apparent, so I felt comfortable enough. I needed to work later than expected on 4/5/12 and extended my stay one night. On 4/6/12 at 5:10am I woke to something biting my neck. I (half-asleep) felt my neck and there was an insect. I grabbed it and put it on the bed. I turned on the light and was unsure of what type of bug it was, but I was afraid it would be a bed bug. On my laptop, I searched for bed bugs and I confirmed that it was a bed bug. It had also left a little bloody spot on the bed where I put it. I then put the bed bug into a plastic bag. The body of the bug was brown and translucent. I held the bag up to the light and it's body was filled with blood. I immediately took the bag to the hotel attendant. It was 5:20am. I asked to move to another room - he gave me a key and two large trash bags for my clothes and things that were on the floor. I am now waiting on the management to arrive... Okay - I just spoke with management, showed him the bug in the bag - he confirmed that he knew it was a bed bug. He also checked out the bed and apologized for the incident, asking if there were any blood marks. I showed him where it was. He's taken my bag of clothes and my pillows (I brought my own) to put in the dryer for an hour. He is also comping my last night's stay. I hope that this doesn't happen again, and he said that he's going to call the exterminator. After my clothes are finished in the dryer, I'm going to get out of here and take everything to a laundry-mat and wash/dry everything I have that's cloth. I'm going to put my suitcase in a large, plastic bag - and have it dry cleaned when I get back home before bringing it back into the house.
This is all I know to do at this point. I'm kind of freaked out, especially with the high level of incidents that have been happening over the last couple of years. I hope these precautions prevent me from taking the critters with me. I also hope that this description helps prevent someone else from staying here and having the same problems.
