BED BUGS!!! I stopped at this hotel to get a cheap room on my way to Birmingham from Atlanta. I didn't want to get caught up in the mess with Talladega so I thought I would just stop in Georgia and drive in to Birmingham in the morning.
I stay in a lot of hotels and I ALWAYS do a thorough check for bed bugs. I had never seen any in any hotel I had stayed in until tonight. I pulled back the sheets at the foot of the bed and there were some bed bugs which appeared to be dead. I then pulled back the sheets at the head of the bed and there were tons of dead bed bugs and many other signs including feces and carcasses of the bugs.
I went downstairs to check out and let the lady at the front desk know the reason why I wouldn't be staying. She claimed that this was one of their best rooms and they had never had any problems with bugs. Rather than just give me my money back and let me be on my way, she had to call the manager who apparently was put out by the whole ordeal because he told her he would call her back. After making me wait about 15 minutes he finally called. She said that he instructed her to give me all of my money back minus $5. When I asked why they would be keeping $5 she said "Service Charge"!!! Service charge for what? I find bed bugs in their hotel and it costs me $5 for finding them??? She just responded "That's what he said". I told her fine, and took the manager's name.
Tomorrow I plan to report everything to Days Inn's Corporate office and I have registered this hotel with the Bed Bug Registry. Trust me, it is not worth the possibility of taking bed bugs home with you just to get a cheap night's sleep in the Days Inn in Villa Rica, GA.
