As soon as I moved in noticed itching. I taught maybe the previous tenant had a cat. Never knew what bed bugs looked like. I saw one crawling on the wall killed it thinking it was a small roach. Spring cleaning had to wash my be skirt there was a small colony. I did a fogger it got worst and spread all over my apartment. Had to throw all my furniture away and wash every piece of clothing I owned and bag it. Management acknowlged the problem but did not seemed surprised and said I was wasting my time moving and breaking my lease.

I have personally witnessed and retained a photo of approximately 30 Hot Shot brand Bedbug & Flea Foggers in the dumpster behind the complex. I do not know if one or both was the problem. I do not know whether management or tenant(s) took action. I do not know which unit(s) were impacted, except my own was not. It is even possible they were discarded here from use somewhere offsite. Any prospective tenant should weigh this information carefully before deciding to sign a lease.

Ali's Rental Property
10928 Aletta Ave.
Culver City, CA
Room Number: Back Unit
Myself and 3 other men moved into the back unit at 10928 Aletta Ave on December 30, 2010, signing a 1 year lease.
We kept the place IMMACULATE!
About 7 months into the lease, my girlfriend who frequently stayed over, had itchy bites all over her stomach, arms and legs. I began noticing the bites and itchiness as well soon after. Neither of us, or the 3 other roommates knew the cause of the bites or the itchiness.
Then in November, I was noticing little black spots all over the pillow cases, and noticed blood splotches on the sheets, and found bug casings and bugs in various parts of the rental property.
The front and back have 2 different addresses, however they share a common wall that divides both of the units.
After finding a huge infestation in 1 of the upstairs bedrooms, all over the mattress and covered parts of the bedframe, I informed the landlord of the problem.
Orkin Exterminators came out in November 2011 and inspected for the problem that was deemed "a health code violation".
The landlord said that it was not his responsibility to take care of the issue. At that point, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Office was informed of the infestation.
Nobody from the LADPHO came out to inspect the issue, and thus did not make sure the landlord properly corrected the issue.
Instead, the landlord used the tenants security deposit to pay for his rental property to be treated for the infestation.
The LADPHO has recently said that they cannot send someone out to that unit and inspect because myself and my roommates have since moved out of the unit.
I am convinced that the infestation was there when we moved in. Reason for my assumptions are simple.
1) Bed Bugs can go dormant for up to 1 year.
2) Our security deposit was ironically the same amount as it was going to be to treat the infestation
3) Which leads me to believe that the landlord knew of the issue prior, which is why the deposit was set at $3,200.
4) The landlord played the 'dumb card' when it was presented to him
5) Im not convinced that the issue has been solved
6) I would recommend renting this unit with extreme caution.

Culver City, CA
After 5 months of living in this location (sharing a wall with front unit), we noticed that we were getting bit hundreds of time throughout the night. we called orkin, who came out to inspect and informed the landlord and the tenants that there was a huge infestation. The landlord said it was not his responsibility to get rid of them. For all we know, the bugs are still there.

West End Hotel
3927 Van Buren Pl
Culver City, CA
Room Number: 105
I stayed here for a couple weeks recently, and had a decent experience. That is until the cleaning lady changed my sheets one day, and the bed bugs must have hitched a ride in to my room that way. I started to get bites all over my body, and at first thought it was mosquitos. Once I confronted the Manager they admitted they have bed bug problems. I was offered a simple "sorry," and here is your $35 deposit back, and I got the heck out... They did however express concern about this information getting out and giving them a hard time to rent rooms, and for good reason. What a nightmare.
